Curious kitty saved

- Athens firefighters saved a kitten Tuesday night after it fell down a pipe at the Title Cash business on U.S. 31. Fire Chief Bryan Thornton said Athens Police Department was first alerted to the kitten's predicament, and the fire department was called to assist. According to the department's Facebook page, the steel pipe was 6 feet deep and 8 inches in diameter. Thornton said firefighters used a pike pole and rescue rope to pull the kitten safely out of the pipe. After being rescued, the kitten went home with a family.
