RICMBA presents academic award

- The Round Island Creek Missionary Baptist Association’s women’s conference presented its academic award in June. The Round Island Creek Missionary Baptist Association held its scholarship presentation during its women’s conference on June 23 at the Round Island Creek Mission Center.
The winner of the women’s conference academic award was Amaya Booker, the daughter of Dr. Cynthia Booker Graddick and John Graddick. Amaya, who attended Sparkman High School, is a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Toney.
Amaya was named to the A honor roll, was a member of the national honor society, Sparkman High School marching band, was a delegate for Sparkman at Girls State and many other achievements and awards.
She graduated with a GPA of 4.25, scored a 32 on her ACT and 1370 on her SAT. She will attend Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia.
