More than 25 female musicians will perform next week as part of the Downtown Huntsville Women in Music Weekend, according to a press release.

The event debuts Thursday, Aug. 9, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 12, in the city center. The musicians will be performing at more than 15 downtown venues.

“We’re thrilled to have so many amazing female musicians and music venues in downtown Huntsville,” said Chad Emerson, president and chief executive officer of Downtown Huntsville Inc. “This event brings them both together in a unique and accessible way.”

Over the course of the four-day event, music fans can visit local venues, listen to free performances and support women in music.

“Having a whole weekend centered on women expressing themselves through their art, supporting each other, and being celebrated by the community is such an incredibly empowering thing,” said Alex Hendrix, a local musician serving as the event lead.
