A vehicle is on fire on Interstate 65 southbound near the 365 exit in front of the rocket at the Ardmore Welcome Center, according to dispatch reports on the scanner. 

The driver is out of the vehicle. 

Heavy smoke is showing in the area, according to reports. Firefighters reported the car fire was “fully involved” at approximately 9:21 a.m.

Ardmore Volunteer Fire Department requested mutual aid from Athens Fire & Rescue for HAZMAT after reporting a 25-gallon diesel fuel spill at the location. An 18-wheeler hit a guardrail and spilled fuel, according to reports. 

Drivers are urged to use caution in the area.
