Council to hear 3 presentations Monday

Athens City Council members have a short agenda for their regular meeting Monday, but they have three presentations lined up for the pre-meeting work session. Each of the following groups has asked to address the council: Morell Engineering, 15-20 minutes; Richard Martin, Jimmy Woodroof Jr. and David Malone, 10 minutes; and the Boys & Girls Club, 10 minutes.

The pre-meeting work session begins at 4:30 p.m. at Athens City Hall, 200 W. Hobbs St., followed by the council’s regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.

The following items are on the council’s regular meeting agenda:

• Resolution to approve the purchase and installation of a computer firewall;

• Resolution authorizing the Pryor Field Regional Airport Authority to apply for and accept grants for airport improvement projects subject to certain conditions;

• Resolution to enter into an agreement with Limestone County to pave Mooresville Road at the turn lanes of Rolling Vista Drive and Grove Hill Lane;

• Resolution to set a public hearing for the regular meeting of Aug. 27 to review the request of David Aycock;

• Resolution to approve travel expenses for Electric Department personnel; and

• Resolution to approve the purchase of a 2002 Leeboy asphalt paving machine.
