Limestone County Sheriff's Investigator Kristin King works the scene of a shooting Friday afternoon in eastern Limestone County. According to the LCSO and emergency radio traffic, a woman suffered birdshot pellet wounds during a dispute at this home in the 13000 block of Hatchett Road East.

A female sought help at a Mapco on U.S. 72 in eastern Limestone County Friday after being hit with birdshot during a domestic dispute, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office said.

The dispute occurred at a home in the 13000 block of Hatchett Road East in Madison. Deputy Stephen Young, public information officer for the LCSO, said the woman ran to the Mapco on the north side of the U.S. 72 and Old Railroad Bed Road intersection for assistance.

Young said the woman was transported by ambulance for treatment, but he expected her to be fine.

Deputies later apprehended the man at the same Mapco.

“He was not injured,” Young said. “He had also called dispatch and said she shot at him.”

No gun was recovered from the woman, Young said, but the shotgun used against the woman was recovered from Old Railroad Bed Road.

Charges are pending against the man but the case is still under investigation.
