REMINDER: Polls open at 7 a.m. for primary runoff

Limestone County’s polling places will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. today for the Republican primary runoff election, though only one countywide race will appear on the ballot.

Joseph Cannon and Terry Persell, Republican candidates for license commissioner, will appear on the ballot in all 26 precincts. They join 12 other Republicans competing in six statewide races:

• Lieutenant Governor: Will Ainsworth vs. Twinkle Cavanaugh;

• Attorney General: Troy King vs. Steve Marshall;

• Associate Supreme Court Justice Place 1: Brad Mendheim vs. Sarah Stewart;

• Court of Civil Appeals Place 1: Christy Edwards vs. Michelle Thomason;

• Court of Criminal Appeals Place 2: Rich Anderson vs. Chris McCool; and

• Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries: Gerald Dial vs. Rick Pate.

Crossover voting

Democrats who voted in the June 5 primary are not eligible to vote today because of the state’s crossover voting law. Only Republicans who voted in the primary or Democrats who did not cast a ballot June 5 will be eligible to vote.
