A Limestone County man arrested this week by the State Fire Marshal’s Office is accused of setting fire to a home he knew was occupied, records show.

Harlon Lane Haggermaker, 24, of 23811 Pepper Farm Lane, Elkmont, was charged July 10 with two counts of felony first-degree aggravated assault. His arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred July 1.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Haggermaker poured gasoline into the crawl space of a mobile home and set fire to it. The complaint says there were two people inside the mobile home at the time — Haggermaker’s girlfriend and her daughter — and that Haggermaker was aware they were inside.

State Fire Marshal Scott Pilgreen said the fire occurred on Cedar Acres Lane in Madison. He said charges were filed after an investigation and after consulting with the Limestone County District Attorney’s Office.

Pilgreen would not release further information, citing an ongoing investigation.

After being charged, Haggermaker was booked into the Limestone County Jail with a $120,000 bond ($60,000 for each count). He was released on bond July 10.
