State troopers released the following statement regarding this afternoon’s investigation near the Tennessee River bridge:

“At approximately 12:50 p.m., Alabama State Troopers were notified about a vehicle pursuit on I-65 south near the Tennessee River Bridge. The vehicle did crash on the bridge.

The driver, a white female, fled on foot. A white male was apprehended at the scene by Alabama State Troopers and turned over to Decatur Police. …

I-65 southbound between I-565 and the river bridge is congested, but is moving slowly. …”

According to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Twitter, the female suspect was apprehended by Decatur police boat operators.
