Athens man accused of sexually abusing child over 10 years

An Athens father accused of sexually abusing his daughter over a 10-year span is facing multiple rape and sexual abuse charges, an official said Thursday afternoon.
On Thursday, Athens Police had initially charged Uriel Valladarez, 35, of 415 Hoffman St., with second-degree rape but four more charges followed after Sgt. Katrina Flanagan interviewed the victim.

Late Wednesday, Athens Police Department received a call about an 18-year-old female who had been sexually assaulted by her father, Police Chief Floyd Johnson said. Officers talked with the victim and notified investigators about the call.
Sgt. Brett Constable and Captain Trevor Harris worked on the case till early Thursday morning. They charged Valladarez with second-degree rape. Later Thursday, Flanagan interviewed the victim, who told the investigator her father had been doing inappropriate sexual acts to her since she was 8 years old, Johnson said.
Thursday afternoon, Valladarez was additionally charged with first-degree rape, second-degree sexual abuse, first-degree sodomy and incest, the chief said.
Valladarez was booked Wednesday night at the Police Department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail.
“Some of these crimes were committed on Hoffman Street and some took place at other locations here in Athens,” Johnson said. “This case is less than 24 hours old and the investigation into this case is continuing.”
