Bonds, Parker hired as head football coaches

The final two open head football coaching positions in Limestone County have been filled, as the Limestone County Board of Education approved the hiring of head coaches at Tanner and Clements high schools.
Former Piedmont High School assistant coach Oscar Bonds will take over at Tanner, while former Hatton High assistant Michael Parker will take the reigns at Clements.

Bonds, 35 is a former All-State running back at Russellville, and played collegiately at Jacksonville State, winning three Ohio Valley Conference championships. He has been an assistant at Piedmont for the past 13 years, helping the team win Class 3A state championships in 2009, 2015 and 2016.
Bonds takes over for Maurice Belser, who was 3-8 in his only season at Tanner. The Rattlers enjoyed tremendous success under former coach Laron White, posting a 148-30 record and winning state championships in 2012 and 2013.
Parker, 47, has been an assistant coach at Hatton the past two years, and prior to that was an assistant at Winston County for four years. He has previous head coaching experience, serving in the position at Phil Campbell in 2008.
Parker takes over for Cody McCain, who resigned to take the head coaching position at Hanceville. McCain improved Clements program, breaking a string of six consecutive 1-9 seasons by finishing with a 4-6 record in both 2016 and 2017.
Four Limestone County schools will have new football coaches in the fall, with Ardmore hiring P.J. Wright and West Limestone hiring Shelby Davis earlier this year.
