Drivers in Athens and Limestone County should anticipate delays this week as a few different road projects will be underway.

U.S. 72 eastbound at Interstate 65 will be down to one lane from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, according to the Alabama Department of Transportation. Crews will be repairing the joints of a concrete slab on the approach to the bridge.

Drivers are advised to expect delays and plan travel accordingly.

Elsewhere, Sterling Road in District 1 will be closed from 8 a.m.–noon Wednesday and Leaning Pine Road in District 1 will be closed from 8–11 a.m. Thursday. Both roads will be closed for maintenance.
