An Ardmore man has been charged with home repair fraud for telling a Limestone County resident who wanted a garage built that he was a licensed Alabama homebuilder when he was not, records show.
Benjamin Price Thomas III, 35, of 29143 Amy’s Circle, was arrested Saturday on the charge with a warrant obtained by Limestone County Sheriff’s Investigator Caleb Durden. Between March 5 and April 21, Thomas used “deception, false pretense or false promises to induce, encourage or solicit a person to enter into a contract or agreement,” according to the complaint Durden filed in Limestone County District Court. Specifically, Thomas allegedly told the prospective customer he was licensed, records show.
“The homeowner ran into issues and decided to check him out and found out he was not licensed,” Durden said. “He had started the job and never came back.”
Thomas was released Saturday from the Limestone County Jail after posting a $1,000 bond on the misdemeanor charge.
