District 4 House election today

Polls are now open for a special election for the vacant District 4 House seat, which is split between Limestone and Morgan counties.
Candidates on the ballot are Republican Parker Moore, Democrat Juanita Allen Healy and Independent candidate Polan “Pete” Willis Jr. The winner of the race will cast no votes in Montgomery, unless Gov. Kay Ivey calls a special session prior to the Nov. 6 general election.

Moore will face Tom Fredricks in the June 5 Republican primary. The winner of the primary will then face Healy and Willis in the November election.
Limestone County Elections Supervisor Bobbi Bailey said the probate judge’s office is predicting a single-digit turnout in Limestone County. Only voters at these five precincts will be casting a ballot today:
• Westside Community Center, 21619 Alabama 99, Athens;
• Round Island Baptist Church, 14790 Brownsferry Road, Athens;
• Belmor Baptist Church, 5895 Mooresville Road, Mooresville;
• Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 11716 County Line Road, Madison; and

• Tanner Baptist Church, 11590 U.S. 31, Tanner.
Voters will also be able to write in a candidate if they so choose. Bailey said write-ins would be counted at the same time provisionals are counted.
