Athens State’s president accepts new job in Texas

Athens State University President Dr. Bob Glenn has been named the new president of the University of Houston-Victoria.

The news was announced late Monday by the Victoria Advocate.

“I’m very excited to be joining the University of Houston-Victoria, where there are a lot of great opportunities. I was really impressed with the people I met there who seemed tremendously committed to the institution and to the community,” Glenn is quoted as telling the publication. “I feel confident that there are great things ahead, and I’m eager to take advantage of all the skills and abilities that are already there.”

The University of Houston-Victoria offers 70 bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The school has 4,429 students (3,312 undergraduates and 1,117 graduates) from 19 states and 38 countries, with alumni numbering more than 18,000.

The school also claims to offer some of the lowest tuition and fees in Texas, in addition to numerous scholarships and financial aid opportunities. More than $35 million in financial aid is awarded to students annually.
