Athens scores late to defeat Elkmont

Athens scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase a late deficit and take an 8-4 victory over Elkmont Monday night.

The Golden Eagles trailed 4-1 heading to the bottom of the sixth, but had four hits in the inning, and took advantage of three Elkmont errors to post the seven-run inning.

After Athens got on the board after an Emma Ogden bunt single, Anna Carder tied the game with an RBI triple before an error and a Mary Greg Anderson single scored two more runs. Another error and a passed ball scored the final two runs of the inning.

Elkmont had taken a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run single by Autumn Davis. The Red Devils added to the lead in the third on a single by Kayla Smith and then took a 4-0 lead in the fourth on a Malena Butler single. Athens scored one run in the bottom of the fourth via an error before the big sixth inning.

Ogden had three hits, including a double, to lead Athens, while Anderson and Olivia McCurry both had two hits each. Butler and Haven Kirby each had two hits for Elkmont, while Davis had two RBIs.

East Limestone 5, Elkmont 2

East Limestone got a fine pitching performance from Olivia Crouch, as the Indians defeated Elkmont Monday afternoon.

Crouch pitched a complete game, allowing just six hits and one earned run, while striking out three and walking none.

East Limestone jumped on top with two runs in the second inning, and added single runs in the third, fourth and sixth. Elkmont scored one run in both the sixth and seventh innings.

Kayleigh Tribble led East Limestone with three hits, including a double, while Maddison Watkins, Kaci Sharp and Olivia Crouch all had two hits and a double each.

Malena Butler led Elkmont with two doubles, while Gabby Rhineheimer had a hit and an RBI.

East Limestone 13, Tanner 1

Kayleigh Tribble had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs as East Limestone took a five-inning victory over Tanner Monday night.

Alyssa Briggs and Dalen McWilliams also had doubles for the Indians, while Taylor Jones had two hits and two RBIs. Emily Broussard, Mallory Jo Mitchell and Delaney Wales also each had two RBIs for East Limestone.

Alyssa Tidwell pitched all five innings for the Indians, allowing just two hits and no earned runs.
