Baseball Roundup: McNairy, Garvin lead Athens past Ardmore

Jacob McNairy and Jack Garvin combined for eight hits and eight RBIs as Athens cruised to a 16-2 victory over Ardmore Tuesday night.
McNairy had four hits and five RBIs while Garvin had three hits and drove in four runs as Athens overcame an early 2-0 deficit to take the win in five innings.
The Golden Eagles closed to within a run with a run in the bottom of the first inning, then scored five runs in the second inning, six in the third and four more in the fourth to pull away.
Kade McHalffey and Daniel Cundiff each had two hits and two RBIs, while Ethan Tease had two hits and an RBI and Major Reeves also had an RBI.
Nick Embrey and Blake Wallace each had an RBI for Ardmore.
Clements 8, Tanner 1
Clements jumped out to a 4-0 first-inning lead and cruised from there in a victory over Tanner Tuesday afternoon in the first of two games for the Colts.
Alex Cole was dominant on the mound for the Colts, striking out eight batters and allowing just one hit in five innings. Cole also was the only Clements player with multiple hits in the game.
Austin Hall and Eli Gilbert each had a hit and two RBIs while Ryland Kirk and Isaac Evans also had RBIs for the Colts.
Colby Looney led Tanner with two hits.
Clements 13, Lindsay Lane 2
Clements scored eight runs in the fourth inning to turn a close game into a runaway Tuesday night. The Colts led just 2-0 through three innings, but the big fourth inning gave them a 10-0 lead and they eventually won the game in five innings.
Alex Cole led the way with two hits and three RBIs, while Seth Harbin, Austin Hall and Isaac Evans each had two hits in the victory. Jacob Guimarin and Cole Wales each had a hit and two RBIs for Clements.
Seth Harbin was the winning pitcher, allowing no runs and striking out five batters in three innings of work. Brady Anderson had a hit and an RBI for Lindsay Lane.
West Limestone 4, Lexington 3
West Limestone overcame an early 3-0 deficit to take a victory behind the pitching of Alec Baugher and Garrett Tennison.
Lexington scored three runs in the top of the first inning, but did not score again, as Baugher and Tennison combined to shut out the Golden Bears over the remaining six innings. West scored one run in the bottom of the first on an error and scored three more in the bottom of the second, with the big hit being a two-run single by Drew Beddingfield.
Baugher struck out eight batters in 5 2/3 innings while Tennison did not allow a base runner and recorded three strikeouts in pitching the final 1 1/3 innings to pick up the save.
Brooks 5, East Limestone 2
East Limestone couldn’t overcome five errors as Brooks took an area win over the Indians. Brooks scored four runs in the first three innings, which was all the Lions needed.
Carlton Schmeider had two hits and two RBIs for East Limestone, while Payton Jackson also had two hits for the Indians.
Zachary Pyles struck out five batters in six innings, and only two of the five runs he allowed were earned.
