Allen will remain jailed at least until his March 7 court date in Limestone County District Court.
Other charges?
Allen was charged following an alleged theft or robbery at MetroPCS, a wireless provider at 600 S. Jefferson St., Suite F, that supplies phones and repairs.
No charges have been filed in connection with the theft or robbery at the store, however. Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said the victim in the case would have to obtain arrest warrants.
Chase and arrest
According to a report filed in District Court, Limestone County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Smith was on the lookout for a gold car with heavy rear-end damage that was said to have fled the scene of the alleged theft/robbery in Athens.

After seeing such a car heading south on Seven Mile Post Road, Smith turned his patrol car around and, with lights and siren activated, pursed the fleeing car. Allen ran a stop sign at Seven Mile Post and Ripley roads but eventually stopped at McCormack and Mack roads. Smith ordered him out of the car and onto the ground and told him to put his hands atop his head and interlock his fingers.
Allen complied. Because Athens police had radioed that the suspect was armed with a shotgun, Smith told Allen to remain on the ground until backup arrived. Deputy Danny Craig arrived and helped Smith arrest Allen.
Sitting in plain view in the back seat of Allen’s car were two cellphone boxes labeled MetroPCS, according to the report. When Smith searched the Allen’s car, he found a black zippered pouch containing two glass pipes with burn marks and stuffed with steel wool, a push rod, and two small plastic bags containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, according to the report.
