After-school program. The after-school program from 3-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at David’s Temple Church in Tanner accepts children ages 5–18. Homework assistants, tutoring and study hall are available. Van pickup is available to all Athens City Schools except Athens High. Children from Tanner High can ride the bus. Lunch series. St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church will host a Lenten Lunch series at 11 a.m. each Wednesday through March 21 at the church on the corner of Washington and Beaty streets in Athens. The lunch is free, but donations will be accepted.

Women’s Tea. The Mothers Board of St. Mark P.B. Church will host a women’s tea at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at 740 Sanderfer Road, Athens. Guest speaker is Barbara Clemons of Pleasant Grove CPCA, Athens. This event is open to the public.

Black History Month celebration. Little Elk M.B. Church will hold its annual Black History Month celebration at 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25. The focus is on African-American entrepreneurs in Limestone County. Guest speaker is Keith Weaver, owner of Goodfellas Pizza and 617 Social Club in Atlanta. Little Elk’s Mass Choir will provide song service. Lunch will be served.

Black History Month celebration. David’s Temple Church at 11273 Stewart Road, Tanner, will host a Black History Month program at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25. Guest speaker will be Dr. Deborah Nichols. Raymond Steele will read a black history poem.

Guest speakers. Mike and Dottie Clark will be guests of the morning service 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at First Union Baptist Church in Athens. The Clarks started Casa Para Niños, a children’s home in Guatemala that cares for and raises orphaned, abused or mistreated children in the hopes that they will become future leaders of Guatemala and make improvements to the country by applying the Christian principles they learn at the home. Pastoral anniversary. St. Mark P.B. Church will celebrate the 23rd pastoral anniversary of Elder Kenneth F. Owens at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 4, at the church, 740 Sanderfer Rd., Athens. Guest speaker will be Lonnie Orr of Christ in Me Church of Pell City. Special guest will be The Orr Sisters of Courtland.
