Calhoun softball improves to 4-0 with sweep

Elkmont native Dakota McCurley had a big day as Calhoun Community College moved to 4-0 on the season with a sweep of four-year college Martin Methodist’s junior varsity team on Thursday.
McCurley totaled four hits, including a home run, to lead the Eagles to the sweep.
Calhoun won the first game 8-3 while taking the second contest by a 7-5 score.
In the opener, McCurley led the offensive attack with two hits and three RBI’s, while Makenzie Smith also had two hits to go along with one RBI.
Anita Bates was the winning pitcher and also hit a double. McKenna Rose got the save.
McCurley picked up two more hits and a home run in the second game, while De’asha Gordeon also had two hits and Kalli Daniel and Breann Biddle had doubles.
Sydnee Uhlman was the winning pitcher, giving up five hits and striking out three.
Calhoun will host Lakeland (Illinois) Community College today and Columbia State Community College on Tuesday.
