Colwell remained in the Limestone County Jail Friday with bail set at $5,000.

According to a report filed Jan. 17 in Limestone County District Court, the father told Patrol Lt. Justin Flanagan he noticed $200 missing from his wallet on Jan. 13, and three rifles missing from the trunk of his 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis on Jan. 14. When the father asked his son about the guns, the son brought one rifle back from his trailer next door. The son told his father he could get the other two rifles back from a guy for $200.

The father told Flanagan he left his home on Jan. 17 and returned a few hours later to find his Polaris four wheeler missing from the garage and four-wheeler tracks leading to his son’s door. The son told the father he had ridden the four wheeler and parked it behind the garage but later found it missing.

According to a report filed Jan. 18 by Investigator Chad Harbin, Colwell confessed to stealing two guns and the Polaris and trading them for drugs.
