Limestone Correctional inmate killed in fall

The Alabama Department of Corrections is investigating the death of an inmate who fell about 12 feet at the prison Dec. 30, an official said.

Bob Horton, public information manager for the Alabama Department of Corrections, told The News Courier about the death Tuesday.

“An inmate fell from a second-level tier located inside the Limestone Correctional Facility in Harvest,” Horton said. “The inmate was taken to a local hospital and later died of his injuries.”

Horton said the ADOC is not releasing the inmate’s name or any additional details until it completes an investigation into the incident.

He said the purpose of the investigation is to determine the cause of the inmate’s fall.
