Athens and Limestone County recently released holiday closings and garbage schedules for New Year’s holidays.

City offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 1.

The sanitation schedule is as follows:

• Residential garbage and bulk trash normally scheduled for Friday will be collected today.

• Recycling collection will run as scheduled Jan. 1.

Limestone County

Limestone County offices will also be closed Monday.

Garbage pickup will run a day later than scheduled this week. For example, if your garbage pickup is Monday, it will be picked up Tuesday.

Because of an increased amount of garbage, trucks will run earlier than normal. Officials ask residents to put garbage out the night before.
