Late Thursday night, police received a call from Athens-Limestone emergency room about an assault victim, Johnson said in a statement.

Officer Jeff Gentilcore talked to the 20-year-old victim who said Villalobos came home from work and began drinking. An argument ensued, and Villalobos broke a bone in her hand and fractured the inside of her eye socket, Johnson said.

A short time later, Sgt. Brandon Turner and Gentilcore found and arrested Villalobos at his home on Dover Street.

He was booked at the Police Department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail.

Under Alabama law, second-degree domestic violence is a Class B felony punishable upon conviction by two to 20 years in prison.
