A woman was caught breaking into vehicles Saturday at the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office after she interrupted a jailer sitting in his car munching a biscuit, an official said.

Natasha Dawn Mencia, 29, of 20414 Lovell Drive, Athens, is charged with unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle after attempting to make entry into several other vehicles in the parking lot at the Sheriff’s Office in Athens.

She was released from the Limestone County Jail after posting a $2,500 bond.

Corrections Officer John Moore was eating a biscuit in his vehicle when Mencia came up to his vehicle and tried to get in the passenger side, said Deputy Steven Young, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office. Moore asked the woman what she was doing, and she walked away. As he got out of his car to follow her, Moore saw Mencia approach other vehicles and eventually get into another employee’s truck, which was unlocked, Young said.

Moore ordered her to exit the truck and escorted her to dispatch, where Sgt. Martin Evans questioned her about her actions.

According to the arrest report, “Mencia stood silent for a short period of time — 5 to 10 seconds — and finally stated, ‘just take me to jail.’ Sgt. Evans obliged Mencia’s request and walked her the approximately 200 feet to the booking room.”

The victim confirmed nothing was missing from his truck.
