• After-school program. The after-school program from 3-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at David’s Temple Church in Tanner accepts children ages 5-18. Homework assistants, tutoring and study hall are available. Van pickup is available to all Athens city schools except Athens High. Children from Tanner High can ride the bus. • Drive-thru Nativity. Emmanuel Baptist Church will present “The Christmas Story,” a live, drive-thru Nativity, from 5:30–8:30 p.m. on the following dates: Saturday, Dec. 9; Sunday, Dec. 10; Saturday, Dec. 16; and Sunday, Dec. 17. More information: 256-232-6193; www.ebcathens.com.

• Christmas program. Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church will host its annual Christmas program at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 10. The theme is “Celebrate Christ’s Birth: The Perfect Gift of Pure Love.” The event is open to the public.
