NAACP seeks veteran membership

Veterans who have considered joining the NAACP will receive a discount this month, according to a press release.

Through the month of November, veterans will receive $10 off membership fees if they join a local branch of the organization. The discounted rate is an effort to increase membership and become a more diverse organization, while also thanking veterans for their service, the release said.

“This is a great opportunity for us to recognize and honor our veterans who given so much and make so many sacrifices for our country,” said Benard Simelton, president of the Alabama State Conference NAACP. “There are many advantages to diversifying and strengthening the organization with members from our armed forces. I have also served in the capacity of lieutenant colonel and put my problem-solving skills to work for the great state of Alabama and my country. We would be honored to have many more veterans join us.”

Those interested in joining should visit www.alnaacp.org or call the Limestone County branch at 256-444-1300.
