HOKES BLUFF, Ala. (AP) — Police say a child seeking help led to the discovery of a man and woman who are dead in what investigators believe was a murder and suicide in northeast Alabama.

Hokes Bluff Police Chief Mitchell Hill says a child left a house and showed up at the home of a neighbor about 1:25 a.m. Monday. The youngster said a man had a gun and was threatening other people.

The Gadsden Times reports police arrived to find 30-year-old Tiffany Jean Johnson dead of multiple gunshot wounds. The say 33-year-old Jonathon David Nabors died of a single gunshot that appeared to be self-inflicted.

The two lived together. Hill says the shooting appears to have stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Authorities haven’t explained the relationship of the child to either person.
