Huskies Stay Perfect Against Jets

MADISON – Hewitt-Trussville came into Madison City School Stadium with an 8-0 record and maintained its perfect mark against James Clemens with a 44-13 victory.
The first score for the Huskies came in the first minute of play on a short pass from Paul Tyson to Logan Pitts which turned into a 78 yard scamper down the field. Parker Colburn, who was perfect on the night, added the PAT.

On the ensuing kickoff, Hewitt-Trussville’s Trevor Sisk recovered a fumble. The Huskies turned the fumble into a touchdown as Tyson scored on an eight yard run with 9:51 left in the first quarter. The PAT by Colburn was good and the Huskies led the Jets 14-0.
With 4:45 left in the first quarter, the Huskies scored again on an Elliott McElwain 20 yard run. Colburn added the PAT and the Huskies led 21-0. With 10:48 left in the second quarter it appeared that James Clemens was about to gain some momentum on an interception by Christopher Sanders until the ball was fumbled and the Huskies maintained possession.
At the 7:56 mark, the Huskies were able to gain six more points on a two yard run by Myles Mason who is headed to play for Mississippi State. Colburn added the PAT and the Huskies were on top 28-0. Before the half, the Huskies added three points on a 33 yard field goal by Colburn with :55 left. The Jets went to the locker room with only eight yards of offense.
In the third quarter, the Jets came out strong. After picking up 26 yards on the ground, Devon Atkinson scored a touchdown on a 29 yard carry. The PAT attempt was unsuccessful and the Huskies led the Jets 31-6. Solid defensive play by the Jets prevented the Huskies from scoring on their next series, but with 2:49 left in the third quarter, Tyson found Dazalin Worsham on a pass and Worsham carried the ball 40 yards for another Husky touchdown. Colburn added the PAT and the Huskies led 38-6.
Hewitt-Trussville added two more field goals in the fourth quarter, as Colburn nailed attempts from 31 and 49 yards to make the score 44-6.
Despite the lopsided score, James Clemens fought until the end. With 2:37 left in the fourth quarter, Cameron Cassidy found Christopher Hope for a 25 yard grab. Dylan Blackburn added 44 yards on the ground before Hope caught another pass from Cassidy for a 5-yard touchdown score. Brody Droppleman added the PAT and the Jets brought the score to 44-13.

In the second half, the Jets went from just eight yards of offense to 192. Devon Atkinson had 119 rushing while Hope had 35 yards receiving and Trevor Hunziker had 17 yards receiving.
James Clemens (3-6) will play its final game of the season against Austin (9-0) next Friday at Madison City Schools Stadium.
