• After-school program. The after-school program from 3-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at David’s Temple Church in Tanner accepts children ages 5-18. Homework assistants, tutoring and study hall are available. Van pickup is available to all Athens city schools except Athens High. Children from Tanner High can ride the bus. • Family fun day. Alabama Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America Inc. will sponsor a community family fun day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Lincoln-Bridgeforth Park in Athens. Event activities include wellness screenings, children’s activities, a car show, STEM activities, visits from Magical Memories characters, food and more. • Fall festival. Tanner United Methodist Church’s free fall festival will be noon-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. Games, trunk or treat and hot dogs will be provided.

• Appreciation service. Athelstine Lodge No. 71 will host an appreciation service for past Master Johnny Pryor at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. • Men’s and women’s day. Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Athens will observe its annual men’s and women’s day at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 29. Minister Keith Shoulders Jr. of Little Zion M.B. Church in Athens will be guest speaker. The event, at 803 Westmoreland St., is open to the public.

• Worship hour. Holt Road Baptist Church will host a worship hour, with luncheon and gospel singing to follow, at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at the church in Athens. The Servants will sing at 1 p.m.

• Judgment House. First Baptist Church will have two more nights of Judgment House on Sunday, Oct. 29, and Wednesday, Nov. 1. This year’s judgment house focuses on a young man who is bullied and turns to revenge and how these decisions affect what his experiences in eternity. The walk-through drama will take guests through multiple rooms that tell a story about people whose lives have been cut short by tragedy, as well as how their deaths impact their family and what they experience beyond the grave.
