Florida fugitives arrested at Athens motel

Two fugitives from justice were arrested Monday after police responded to a domestic violence call at an Athens motel, an official said.

Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said when officers arrived at the Country Hearth Inn on U.S. 72, they checked warrants on 28-year-old Zachary Joseph Kelman and 36-year-old Toni Marie Williams. Both had existing warrants for theft out of Santa Rosa, Florida.

Officer James Rogers and Sgt. Daniel McNatt took the couple into custody and were both charged with being fugitives from justice. Williams was also charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

After being booked at Athens Police Department, both were taken to the Limestone County Jail. Bond had not been set as of Tuesday afternoon.
