James Clemens scored in each quarter en route to a 33-7 victory over Buckhorn in a Class 7A, Region 4 matchup.
With the contest scoreless late in the first quarter, Jets’ running back Devon Atkinson took it into the end zone from 6 yards out to give the Jets a 7-0 lead.
Quarterback Connor Cantrell connected with sophomore wide out Christopher Hope for a 10-yard TD pass to give the Jets a 13-0 lead with 38.2 seconds to go in the first half.
The duo connected on another 10-yard TD play midway in the third quarter making it 20-0.
The Jets never looked back, as Hope finished the game with 103 receiving yards and two scores.
For the second time in three games, Austin McGhee scored a touchdown off a blocked punt, but unlike two weeks ago when he blocked it himself and ran it in against Grissom, Christopher Sanders was the one with the block before McGhee scooped it up and returned it 3 yards for a score late in the third quarter.
Buckhorn didn’t reach the end zone until less than a minute left in the game. Quarterback Cole Cassidy hit Cameron Handley for a 28-yard TD reception with 18 seconds left in the game for the Bucks’ lone score.
James Clemens improved to 3-5 and 2-4, while Buckhorn fell to 3-5 and 1-5.
The Jets have now won two out of three games and will battle region champ Hewitt-Trussville next week.
