Colbert County too much for Clements

Clements got off to a fast start, but Colbert County’s speed and athleticism won out in a 34-7 victory for the Indians.
Colbert County was without its leading rusher in Kobi McCoy, who was suspended after a violation of team rules, but Chance Bates and J’Daryus Nance combined to rush for 271 yards and four touchdowns in his place.

Lucas Craft also threw for 113 yards and a touchdown to pace the Indians.
Clements started the game hot by stopping the Indians in their own territory twice on fourth down. The Colts also scored the first points of the game with a 1-yard quarterback sneak from Cole Wales.
Colbert County responded with 27 unanswered points in the first half. After a Duke Taylor interception, Bates scored on a 56-yard touchdown run to tie the game at seven to end the first quarter.
Bates found the end zone again with a short four-yard score to retake the lead. Nance scored on a 22-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 21-7 with 4:40 left before halftime.
Clements turned the ball over with a fumbled snap with 1:34 left before halftime. The Indians took advantage of the miscue when Lucas Craft hit Bates in stride for a 56-yard touchdown pass. Colbert County led 27-7 at the half.
Bates totaled 157 yards on nine carries and three total touchdowns in the first half.

With 1:13 left in the third quarter, Nance broke a 59-yard touchdown run to seal the 34-7 win.
Clements running back Seth Harbin had four carries for 112 yards in the loss.
The Colts (2-4, 0-4 Class 3A, Region 8) host West Morgan next Friday.
