Volunteer firefighters from East Limestone and Segers fire departments responded Thursday to a house fire in the 26000 block of Capshaw Road. The call was received at about 2 p.m. Prior to firefighters’ arrival, some neighbors attempted to fight the blaze with garden hoses. No one was home at the time the fire started and no injuries were reported. East Limestone firefighter Kasey Brown said when he arrived on the scene, flame and smoke were visible at the rear of the home. Firefighters were still on the scene after 5 p.m., putting out hot spots. Brown said there was no indication about what caused the fire. The home was deemed a total loss.
