The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday issued a warning about a telephone scam.

The caller claims to be from the Sheriff’s Office and tells the victim he or she has warrants. To avoid arrest, the victim is instructed to purchase a “green card” with a specified amount of money on it and then send it to a provided address.

The Sheriff’s Office wanted to remind residents it would never call people who have warrants and instruct them to send money.
