Athens Bible, Elkmont boys perform well in meet

The Athens Bible School boys cross country team finished second with Elkmont right behind in third at in the 1A-3A race at the Warriors Invitational cross country meet at Wilson High School on Sept. 28.

Athens Bible finished with a team score of 56 points while Elkmont finished with 85. Hatton won the meet with 37 points.

The top local runner was Elkmont’s Chase Prater, who finished second overall with a time of 17:26.26. Three Athens Bible runners finished in the top 10, with Nicolas Ulrich finishing fourth in a time of 18:41.21, Andrew Hall seventh with a time of 19:04.76 and Christopher Waddell 10th in a time of 19:41.18. Case Joel placed 13th and Grey Fortenberry 22nd to round out the Trojans’ points-scoring runners.

Masin Morris finished 18th overall for Elkmont, while Brantley Hammock was 19th, Alex Armstrong 21st and Jon Mikel Owens 25th.

Tanner’s boys also competed in the 1A-3A race and placed seventh as a team. Cristian Nolasco finished 20th as Tanner’s top runner. Frankie Vicente, Richard Rosas, Gavin Hagood and Angel Rubio also scored points for the Rattlers.

Elkmont also competed as a team in the girls 1A-3A race, finishing sixth in the team competition. Claudia Allen finished fifth overall in a time of 23:01.86, while Melanie Hernandez, Jazmin Ristau, Kaylee Varnie and Aerial Hernandez also scored points for the Red Devils.

Tanner and Athens Bible didn’t compete in the team competition but had a few girls race as individuals. The top ABS runner was Lillian Bradford, who placed 19th, and the top Tanner runner was Yami Mendoza, who placed 22nd.

East Limestone was the top-finishing local school in the boys 4A-7A race, placing fourth in the team competition. Chase Richardson was East’s top runner, finishing 14th in a time of 18:37.32, while his teammate Angel Reyes placed 16th in a time of 18:40.28. Daniel Torres, Dylan Irvin and Wyatt Howell also scored points for the Indians.

West Limestone had two runners place in the top 15, with Nick Roberson coming home 11th in a time of 18:19.46 and Austin Abernathy placing 13th in a time of 18:34.26. Alan Satterlee, Ethan Navas and Levi Jackson were the other points-scoring runners for the Wildcats.

Ardmore placed 12th in the team competition, with Bryson Rolin being the Tigers’ top runner with a 40th place finish. Carter Richardson, Skyler McLeod, Jeffery Martin and Logan Moore also scored points for Ardmore.

West Limestone was the top local team in the girls 1A-3A race, finishing fifth. Cassidy Winter had another strong showing with a fourth-place finish in a time of 20:40.56. Avery Keenon also placed inside the top 20 with a 17th place finish. Brianna Burrow, Katie Serrato and Carlie Winter also scored points for West.

Ardmore and East Limestone also competed, with Ardmore finishing 10th and East placing 12th.

Vivian Hembree, Kaylee Wilson, Grace Betterton, Daylee Buckner and Malaya Stone scored points for Ardmore while Meghan Johnson, Alli Haataja, Zelina Reyes, Faith Allen and Addison Sargent were the points-scorers for East Limestone.
