• After-school program. The after-school program from 3-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at David’s Temple Church in Tanner accepts children ages 5-18. Homework assistants, tutoring and study hall are available. Van pickup is available to all Athens city schools except Athens High. Children from Tanner High can ride the bus. • Women’s conference. The 11th Annual Round Island Creek Missionary Baptist Association Women’s Conference will be 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, and 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Round Island Creek Mission Center, 13829 Lucas Ferry Road in Athens. Friday’s event will feature guest speaker Dr. Shirley Fletcher of Jackson Chapel CME Church in Courtland and music from The Woodruff Family. Saturday’s event will feature guest speaker Minister Shirley Burks of Progressive Union MBC in Huntsville, music from Sister Denise Williams and Sister Angela Hughes and a conference session. Saturday participants are asked to dress for worship. Door prizes, vendors and lunch will be available at the conference. • 21st anniversary service. Indian Creek P.B. Church will celebrate the 21st pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Timothy M. Rainey at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1. The Rev. Timothy Mark Rainey II of Atlanta will be the guest preacher. Indian Creek P.B. Church Mass Choir will sing during worship service. The theme this year is “A Pastor that Labors in Love According to the Word.” The church is located at 380 Indian Creek Road, Huntsville.
• 10th anniversary service. Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church will host a 10th anniversary celebration for the Rev. Timothy Townsend Sr. and First Lady starting at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1. Associate Minister Tavares Townsend will deliver the 11 a.m. message, with Pastor Charles Simmons and Little Ezekiel M.B. Church will be on program for the 2:30 p.m. service. Lunch will be served.
• Revival. Shanghai First Baptist Church will host a revival series featuring evangelist Aaron Johnson and worship leader Greg Glaze at the following times: 11 a.m and 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1; 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2; and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3. The Tuesday service will be a youth and children’s night with free pizza and drinks served at 5:30 p.m. Shanghai First Baptist Church is located at 13435 Elk River Mills Road, Athens. • Homecoming. The Rev. Anthony Stewart and Greater Hope Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its annual homecoming and church anniversary at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1. Pastor Donnie Malone and the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Belle Mina will be guests.

• Friends and Family Day. Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church will host a Friends and Family Day service Sunday, Oct. 22. The 11 a.m. service will feature Pleasant Hill CP Church from Stella, Tennessee. The 2:30 p.m. service will feature Pastor Parks and Ole Mount Zion M.B. Church from Pulaski, Tennessee. Lunch will be served.
• Appreciation service. Athelstine Lodge No. 71 will host an appreciation service for Past Master Johnny Pryor at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28.
