• Fun in the Park. West Highland Baptist Church and Hispanic First Baptist Church will host Bible Fun in the Park Day from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Fifth Avenue Park in Athens. Lunch, snacks and drinks will be served. Two bicycles will be given away, but winners must be registered and present to win. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m.
• Beth Moore. Clements Baptist Church will join the Beth Moore simulcast, “Captivated: The Wonder of Christ on the Winding Road,” from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. today. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $15 and includes lunch. Register online at clementsbaptist.org.
• After-school program. The after-school program from 3-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at David’s Temple Church in Tanner accepts children ages 5-18. Homework assistants, tutoring and study hall are available. Van pickup is available to all Athens city schools except Athens High. Children from Tanner High can ride the bus. • Chapel Talk. The Curtis Coleman Center for Religious Studies and Ethics at Athens State University will host a chapel talk centered around the life and legacy of the late English Reformer John Bunyan at noon Tuesday, Sept. 19. The talk will draw life lessons from Bunyan’s “Pilgrim’s Progress” and will be held at the Founders Hall Chapel on the second floor. This event is open to the public.
• Anniversary celebration. Elkton Road Baptist Church is celebrating 50 years of ministry at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 24. Former pastor Dr. Steve Linginfelter will be the guest preacher. A fellowship luncheon will follow celebration service. The church is located at 19470 Elkton Road, Athens. More information: 256-232-9086.
• 10th anniversary service. Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church will host a 10th anniversary celebration for the Rev. Timothy Townsend Sr. and First Lady starting at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1. Associate Minister Tavares Townsend will deliver the 11 a.m. message, with Pastor Charles Simmons and Little Ezekiel M.B. Church will be on program for the 2:30 p.m. service. Lunch will be served.
• Gospel singing. Brother Squires Parson will perform at Greenbrier Baptist Church at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 8. Event is free, but donations will be accepted. More information: 256-497-7349 or www.greenbrierbaptistchurch.net.
• Appreciation Day. Antioch CPCA Church family will honor Pastor Robert L. Rice during worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22. The guest minister will be the Rev. Marcus Baker of Elkmont First Baptist Church. This event is open to the public.
• Friends and Family Day. Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church will host a Friends and Family Day service Sunday, Oct. 22. The 11 a.m. service will feature Pleasant Hill CP Church from Stella, Tennessee. The 2:30 p.m. service will feature Pastor Parks and Ole Mount Zion M.B. Church from Pulaski, Tennessee. Lunch will be served. The event is open to the public.
