Everett Williams ran the ball eight times for 47 yards before exiting in the second quarter with an injury. Cole Wales completed 13 of 23 passes and threw for 121 yards for the Colts in the loss.

Both teams started the games with long drives. Lexington went nine plays 36 yards before turning the ball over on downs. Clements followed with a 12-play 39-yard drive before punting the ball back to the Bears.

Lexington fumbled on the next procession opening the door for the Colts. Andrew McBride intercepted a tipped pass that Hunter Mosley tipped at the line to halt the Colts drive.

Clements went for a 27-yard field goal right before halftime, but Mosley blocked the field goal and returned it 70 yards for the game’s first touchdown.

Lexington led at halftime 6-0 after the missed extra point.

Mosley forced a fumble with 31 seconds left in third quarter to stifle the Colts drive at their own 46-yard line. The fumble led to the first offensive touchdown of the night. Tyler Clark scored from 10 yards out to extend the Bears lead to 12-0.

Both teams turned the ball over in the fourth quarter on back-to-back plays. Daniel Thaxton grabbed an interception for the Bears, and then the Colts recovered a fumble to get the ball back.

Trey Martin had the Bears’ third interception in the fourth quarter, as well. Lexington stopped Clements with 2:08 left to go to win the game.

Clements (1-2, 0-2) will host Lauderdale County next week in another 3A, Region 8 contest.
