John Barnes Park is on Ardmore Ridge Road in Ardmore, Tennessee.

The rodeo features events such as bareback and saddle bronc, calf roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and bull riding. Ardmore Police Lt. David Posey said this year’s rodeo will be produced by Circle J&K Cattle from Prospect, Tennessee.

“We’ve not used them before but we’re trying to keep everything local this year,” he said.

New this year is the Ranch Bronc competition. Potential cowboys and cowgirls have the chance to test their skills on a bronc randomly chosen by the judges. Attendees are also welcome to try their luck on the new bucking mechanical bull.

Riders do not have to be a Southern Professional Rodeo Association members, but they must have a bronc reign or a lead rope, according to the Ranch Bronc rules. Competitors may enter both nights.

Tickets are on sale at Adam’s Western Wear in Ardmore, Alabama, and Peoples State Bank of Commerce in Ardmore, Tennessee. Advance tickets are $12 for adults ages 13 and older, and $8 for children. Gate prices are $15 for adults and $12 for children, and credit and debit cards will be accepted.

Posey said attendance varies, but normally falls between 1,000 and 1,500 people.

“We hope this is the best one yet,” he said.
