“Burchfield Botanicals,” an exhibit at the Huntsville Museum of Art, will be on display at the museum through Aug. 6.

Organized by the Burchfield Penney Art Center, the exhibit features sketches and watercolors by American artist, Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967), illustrating the different wildflowers and plants he found in the forests and fields around his childhood home in Salem, Ohio. Burchfield’s scientific sketches have been used in paintings and in titles of works over the years.

“We are beyond thrilled to bring these beautiful and scientifically accurate pieces by renowned artist, Charles Burchfield, to North Alabama” said Christopher Madkour, executive director of HMA. “The mixture of sketches and paintings, paired with the 3D elements from the Marchand Wildflower Collection makes Burchfield Botanicals an intriguing and thoughtful exhibition that will entice both art lovers and botany enthusiasts alike.”
