A house on Honey Way Lane just east of Dupree Worthy Road is a total loss after a Wednesday evening fire.

East Limestone Volunteer Fire chief Joey Boyd said the house was heavily involved in flames when firefighters responded to the call just after 5 p.m.

“We had it under control fairly quickly but we weren’t out of there until about 7 p.m.,” he said, adding the structure of the home was standing but the inside was destroyed.

One person was home at the time of the fire but was able to get out of the home.

Boyd said the home occupant told firefighters at the scene that the fire started from a window unit in the bedroom.

East Limestone worked the scene alongside Segers Volunteer Fire Department.
