This year marks Gold’s 30th season serving as “Voice of the Crimson Tide” and play-by-play broadcaster for Alabama Football. A fixture in sports broadcasting, Gold has been named Alabama Sportscaster of the Year four times by the National Sportscaster and Sportswriter Association. The Associated Press has named him Sportscaster of the Year twice.

Organizers of the fundraising dinner say Gold will offer a preview of the upcoming football season as part of his remarks.

About the Bama Club

In January 2017, the Limestone County chapter of the University of Alabama National Alumni Association chose to relaunch the organization under the Limestone County Bama Club banner.

“The goals of our chapter have not changed,” said Jim Morris, club president. “Our focus continues to be on increasing the scholarship opportunities of Athens and Limestone students who want to attend the University of Alabama.”

Morris explained he wants the club to be an all-inclusive chapter that acknowledges the importance of friends and supporters who may not have attended the University of Alabama, but who are “equally vital to achieving our goals as a chapter.”

To that end, the club is open to all alumni, friends and supporters of the university.
