Officers tried to make contact with a neighbor who was identified as a possible suspect, but the man refused to come outside of a home where he was with two children.

Officers evacuated several nearby houses, but WAFF-TV reports that some bystanders threw fireworks at police. Officers threatened to use pepper spray and told people to go inside.

The man finally surrendered early Wednesday after more than two hours. Police haven’t released the suspect’s name.
