Athens woman charged with fraudulent purchases

An Athens woman accused of charging more than $600 worth of merchandise to an elderly person’s credit or debit card has been charged with fraudulent use, an official said.
Lori Pendergrass Sconyers, 43, of 1503 Buchanan St., was arrested Tuesday on two counts of fraudulent use of a credit/debit card.
Athens Police Investigator Kelly Fussell found that between June 10 and 11, Sconyers used the card of the elderly person she had been sitting with to make purchases at Walmart in Athens. One transaction was for $67.61 and the other for $549.31, a total of $616.92.
Conyers was booked at Athens Police Department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail.
