Retired educator, coach and community volunteer Jackie Lane Greenhaw died Saturday at age 73.

His death occurred the same day as the annual Limestone County Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony. In 2009, Greenhaw worked with other community leaders to establish the Hall of Fame.

Greenhaw volunteered his time to several other community organizations, including the Athens Rotary Club, United Way of Athens-Limestone County, Council on Aging and veterans causes. Greenhaw was an active participant in the annual Poke Sallet Follies, which raises money for the Foundation on Aging.

He was named Citizen of the Year by the Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce in 2010.
