The case
When Glass reported the burglary June 18, deputies at the scene noticed other items of value, including a flat-screen television, had been left untouched, Young said.
Several witnesses in the area told Investigator Caleb Durden they had seen Glass and two unidentified men remove the washer and dryer from the home, the deputy said.
When confronted with the information, Glass confessed to filing the false report, Young said. She said her landlord was evicting her and being rude about it, so she sold the washer and dryer for $80, the deputy said.
Although Durden told the buyer the items were stolen, the buyer has so far refused to return them, Young said. The buyer could be charged with receiving stolen property, the deputy said.
