A dirty car and a donation could help an Athens youth baseball team continue its winning ways at the state level.

The Athens 6u All-Stars will host a car wash fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at O’Reilly Auto Parts on U.S. 72 in Athens. Coach Chad Smith said proceeds will help pay the $650 gate fee at the state tournament, set to be played in Spanish Fort June 22-25.

In addition to the car wash, the team will also host a raffle. Several businesses donated gift card and other items to the effort.

This year’s 6u T-ball team is the first from Athens to play in the state tournament.
