Those who love horsepower, torque, large tires and bone-rattling RPMs are in for a loud treat this weekend as the Ardmore Lions Club Tractor Pull returns.

The ninth annual rain-or-shine event kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday, June 16, and continues Saturday, June 17, at John Barnes Park at 26425 Hamlett St. in Ardmore, Tennessee. About 60 tractors and trucks will compete in a variety of competitive pulls over the two-day event.

Tickets are $10 each and children 6 and under are admitted free. Proceeds benefit the Ardmore Lions Club, which purchases glasses for people with impaired vision and supports other charities like the Boys and Girls Club, Ardmore Public Library and programs at Ardmore High School.

“This an event we look forward to all year,” said Mike Magnusson, club president. “It is our most important fundraiser of the year and we’re honored by the fact the Mid-South Pullers Association chooses Ardmore and the John Barnes Park for their pulls.”

Classes for the pull include light super stock tractors, heavy super stock tractors, limited pro stock tractors, 6200 two-wheel drive trucks, 9300 super farm tractors, P4/PSFWD trucks, light limited super stock and 10,000 pro stock tractor. Those with sensitive hearing are advised to bring earplugs.

“It’s so exciting with all the fancy tractors and trucks and all the power you see exchanged,” Magnusson said. “We like to help people and that’s what we use our money for; to put back into the community. We hope the community will come out.”

The event is sponsored by H&R Agri-Power, Rogers Group Inc. and Paul Davis Restoration. For more information, click here.
