At least one person was killed Thursday when a Huntsville church bus crashed while enroute to Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The bus was from Mount Zion Baptist Church, located near the intersection of Jeff and Mount Zion roads in Huntsville. Church education minister Terry Slay told WXIA-TV the bus was carrying 11th- and 12th-graders along with adults. He did not know how many people were on the bus.

The wreck happened around 3 p.m. on Camp Creek Parkway and Merk Road, as the bus was headed to the airport. Firetrucks and ambulances swarmed the area as traffic came to a standstill on the busy bypass.
The church’s Facebook post said there are “several serious injuries” but did not provide further details. Slay said some of the injuries were critical.
